Central Park
The 844-acre Central Park is home to or very near to some great attractions like the Met and Guggenheim and it is a concert venue. Rockefeller Center
A sprawling complex of buildings in midtown Manhattan, the Rockefeller Center is a firm favourite with visitors and locals. The ‘Top of the Rock’ observation deck is a great spot to take in the New York skyline and there are lots of shops, eateries and a tour to enjoy. During the winter months the iconic Christmas tree and skating rink are a hit with everyone, and you can take in some live TV as the NBC studios are here.
Grand Central Station
The marble floors and gold chandeliers in the main concourse of Grand Central Station have been the backdrop to scenes in many a movie. It is a wonderful sight inside and out. You can also enjoy some retail therapy and of course there are cafes. Bars and restaurants to catch a bite or do a spot of people watching.
Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island
One of the most famous landmarks in the world, the Statue of Liberty can be visited via ferry from Battery Park which includes a stop at Ellis Island. Prepare to queue for the ferry or you can just take in the Statue from the Battery Park area.
9-11 Memorial
Less than a mile from Battery Park is the 9/11 Memorial which is a sobering reminder of the terrorist attacks 18 years ago. The museum and reflecting pools are a moving experience but one you should visit.
Times Square
If you are taking in a Broadway Show whilst in New York, you should put some time aside before or after to soak up the unique atmosphere of Times Square. The neon extravaganza is good to see at night. There are lots of places to eat in the area, shops, tv studios and more.
